About Dickeyville
Dickeyville is a small, friendly town, considered by some as “a bedroom community” as we do not have any large scale industrial, manufacturing or shopping facilities located here. We are located in the rolling hills in the heart of America’s dairy land approximately ten miles from Dubuque, IA and Platteville, WI where a lot of the villagers commute to work.
Our population is about 1100 people and the ancestry of our village would be predominately German. We have only one church, Holy Ghost Catholic, in our village so the community is considerably Catholic. Other denominations travel to surrounding towns and villages. The Holy Ghost parish sponsors the Labor Day weekend picnic where over one thousand family style meals are served annually and offers visitors the opportunity with games of chance including bingo. The Dickeyville Grotto & Shrines, open year round, is a large tourist attraction that is listed on national register.
Steeped in rich traditions we are a community of people with good, small-town values; people who have a strong, rural work ethic; and people who genuinely care about their neighbors and about their community. Explore our website to learn more about our family friendly village and if you get the chance come visit our neck of the woods.
