These are words that the Village of Dickeyville has seen before. The Dubuque Racing Association has been very generous with their contributions. The Dickeyville Community Center had received a grant to purchase tables, chairs, refrigerator, microwave, stove and coffee pots. The Brickl Memorial Library had also received a grant to purchase books. This time the Dubuque Racing Association has donated $4,000 toward the purchase of the new siren. The total cost of the siren was $14,000. Now that we have two weather sirens up and running, and in tune with each other, the village is potentially a much safer place with the ability to warn citizens of a pending storm or other disaster. The sirens work in harmony with each other and have the ability to use pre-recorded messages, several different siren tones, as well as a PA system that can be used for any number of messages for the public. Although the village is now fully covered and most will be able to hear the sirens or announcements inside their homes or business's, the sirens are mainly for people that are outside. There is no guarantee that a person would be able to hear the sirens while inside a building. To make sure that you have the ability to be warned about a weather disaster, you should purchase a weather radio.
